The Sutro Springtime buckle features seven multi-colored Montana sapphire slices set in silver bezels atop 18k green gold wire ‘stems’, twisted by hand around brilliant-cut emeralds and sapphires. A lustrous border of 18k yellow gold wire illuminates the lightly brushed sterling silver face to create a striking but playful, Chihuly-esque display of color. Handmade to fit all 1.5 inch belt straps.
One of our favorite hand cut shapes. This buckle features hand cut and formed sterling silver overlays, with 14k Rose and Yellow, and 18k Green gold three dimensional overlays. Hand finished with .4tcw of Cognac diamonds, and a .5tcw Marquis white diamond. 2" x 3"
Sutro Breaking Down
The Sutro Breaking Down is meant to convey the feeling of losing control. We started with a thick sterling silver base, then joined 18 multi-colored gold and silver wires, different widths and lengths, and pulled them through the back of the buckle. When the wires were secure, we began to experiment with the idea of what it would look like if the design were spinning too fast, what would happen? This was a fun buckle to make, and we're very pleased with the execution. We've curated a large collection of stones at the shop, just waiting for the opportunity. The irradiated blue diamond in the center of the buckle is a perfect touch.
Mason Vine W 18k Leaves
The Mason Vine buckle, sterling silver, 18k gold, and diamonds, handmade to fit 1.5 inch belt straps. This sterling silver piece is rectangular in shape with gently rounded edges, and features 14k red gold vines covered by and connected to individually hand-shaped 18k white gold leaves, highlighted by five diamonds. The raised leaves lend a visual texture that, along with the buckle’s natural shape and exceptionally intricate engraving, create a natural, vibrant, earthy aesthetic that is truly masterful. Handmade by Comstock Heritage in Carson City, Nevada.
Mason Gold and Raw Diamonds
This buckle is made with a hand-wrought sterling silver base, but the dominant aesthetic comes from the thick 14k yellow gold bordering, the 14k yellow and rose gold floral patterning, and the four raw diamonds set in fine silver bezels. We especially enjoy the color correspondence here, as the outer two raw diamonds, with slightly ruddy natural colorations of their own, pick up the bold yellow and rose colors beautifully.
Comstock Heritage. Small Sterling silver overlay trophy style buckle with 14k round wire edge, 14k red, green, and yellow gold 3 dimensional overlays, Ormsby style. Fits all 1.5 inch belt straps.
Tyson Dorset Deep Basket Weave
Sterling silver hand made 30mm military style buckle with thick hand cut 14k yellow gold basketweave pattern. 14 Karat rose gold sides and 14 Karat red gold background. Made by America's oldest silversmith, Comstock Heritage. Fits all 30mm belt straps.
Named for the Brazilian state these black diamonds come from, this buckle features over 4tcw of black diamonds, and 1tcw of Pigeon's Blood rubies. Surrounding these precious stones are a round 14k yellow gold wire edge, and hand cut 14k white and rose golds.
The Sutro Hayes buckle features hand-shaped and engraved 18k gold ‘leaf’ overlays, 14k rose gold wire ‘vines,’ and eleven white diamonds set in fine gold bezels, built upon a base of hand-wrought sterling silver. The diamonds pick up the slightest suggestion of color from the gold bezels, helping their brilliant refraction to play along with the deep shades of gold and antiquated sterling silver. Instead of jumping out brightly to dominate the view, the diamonds draw out, illuminate, and strengthen the rich hue around them. A master-class of color selection and material arrangement, this buckle sublimates brilliance to create a deep, organic sense of harmony—a beautiful gesture with beautiful results.

The Rasputin (so named after a black diamond run on Vail mountain) is a hand crafted Sterling silver buckle featuring 14k rose gold hand engraved scrolls, 18k green gold engraved lattice work, and an eye catching centerpiece of five black diamonds, 4tcw.

The Mason Bellini buckle by Comstock Heritage features four black diamonds (7.69ct) set in 18k yellow gold bezels below 18k yellow gold scrollwork, delicately restrained in Italianate style. Lightly brushed bars of 18k green gold form borders to the top and bottom, their rich color deepening the palette to welcome the prominent black diamonds, which otherwise may have set off too strongly against a backdrop of only darkened silver and lustrous yellow gold. The buckle itself has a surprising heft, offering a pleasing aesthetic dimension of weight to correspond with the solid borders and darkly indelicate diamonds. Handmade to fit all 1.5 inch belt straps.
Sutro Dorset 18K
The Sutro Dorset is made entirely of eighteen-karat gold. A flat, oval band forms the outline of the buckle, and each of the eleven ribbons is cut by hand. Again using hand tools, the hot metal ribbons are woven together. The amount of care, craftsmanship and effort it takes to create the precise basket-weave pattern out of such a delicate metal is staggering. Fits all 1.5-inch belt straps.
America’s oldest western silversmiths, Comstock Heritage was founded in 1886. Since then they have been perfecting the art of taking metal from the earth and shaping it into something beautiful. The Stegman family has owned the business since the 1920s, making everything from badges for law enforcement to ornamentation for saddles. Using this storied history and expertise, the craftsmen at Comstock now specialize in one-of-a-kind custom silver and gold pieces. Everything Comstock produces is made entirely by hand, reflecting respect for the materials and care for the family legacy of Comstock Heritage.
